The School on Wheels Volunteer Appreciation Dinner was held on April 10, 2013 at the Maplewood Country Day Enrichment Center.
This is an annual event attended by SOWMA staff, volunteers, and program partners that celebrates the vital role volunteers play in our organization. Guest speakers this year were students Elijah and Hailey, and tutors Margaret Ferrell and Bruce Babbitt. All four painted a vivid picture of the power one-on-one mentoring has to impact the lives of both students and tutors. In addition to these speeches, the following awards were presented:
- Outstanding Volunteer Tutor Awards to Margaret Ferrell and Bruce Babbitt
- Outstanding Corporate Partner Award to Randolph Savings Bank
- Outstanding Community Volunteer Awards to Spencer Long, Michele Wareham, and Russell Opper
- Jane Feroli Memorial Tutor of the Year Award to Karla Kelley
