Richard Olson has been the Executive Vice President & Chief Banking Officer of East Cambridge Savings Bank, a 1.6B mutual savings bank, since October of 2023. In this role he leads the Retail, Marketing, and Commercial and Residential Lending teams for the institution. Prior to ECSB he was a member of the executive leadership team of Envision Bank, where he was the SVP of Retail Banking, Deposit Operations, and Corporate Marketing. Richard has been in community banking since 2007. Before that he worked at Bank of America and its legacy companies: Fleet and BankBoston for twenty years where he held a series of progressive leadership roles in retail banking, small business, and strategic planning. Most of those roles were within the Community Investment Group – a specialized unit focusing on community economic development in primarily under-served, urban markets.
Richard graduated cum laude from Bentley University with a degree in finance and has completed additional course work at the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business. He has been active in multiple community organizations in Boston and New Hampshire focused on affordable housing, social justice, economic development, homelessness and health care. He currently serves on the boards of directors of Sage Housing in Quincy, and School on Wheels of Massachusetts. He serves as the Treasurer for both organizations.
Richard and his husband live in Dorchester with their youngest of 5 children.
