His Confidence Has Carried Over To His Daily Work

Recently we received a letter from one of the teachers from a Brockton Elementary School where we tutor some of our STAR students in our school based tutoring program:

Dear Cheryl,
I am so thankful for what the School on Wheels program has done for my student. Since beginning the program, I have noticed huge changes in both his behavior and academics. He has benefited from the continued structure of the day and the one on one attention he receives. His confidence has carried over to his daily work and he is now proud of what he can accomplish. Suddenly, he cares about his assignments and puts in the effort to do his best.

When I spoke to his mother recently, she also noticed a difference in his behavior at home and his excitement about learning. As a whole, this child seems to be more organized and less anxious than he was before starting with School on Wheels.
Thank you for your support with Michael 🙂

School on Wheels of Massachusetts (SOWMA) trains community volunteers to provide tutoring once a week for students in grades K-12 whose lives have been impacted by homelessness. Our volunteer tutors come from all walks of life with different backgrounds and professions, yet they share one goal: to help children move beyond homelessness through a quality education.
