are identified as homeless. Most of our backpack recipients SHARE ONE BEDROOM AT A FAMILY SHELTER WITH THEIR SIBLINGS AND FAMILY.

TWO good deeds! Support a student AND a local business! Order your favorite book from our friends at Buttonwood Books or Paperback Junction. No delivery - we'll pick up and relay to a student on your behalf!

5. GET CREATIVE WITH YOUR KIDS!
We include letters, artwork and notes of inspiration with each backpack. Children and teens love to receive notes from supporters and peers.
Here are a few fun family activities to add! Create origami bookmarks with your kids or homemade bracelets!

6. START A SCHOOL ON WHEELS CLUB

Kids Helping Kids! Your children or teens can make a difference by forming a School on Wheels Club at their school or in their neighborhood. SOWMA Clubs coordinate school supply drives or stage events that promote and support the needs of peers facing homelessness.
SOWMA Club leaders gain valuable leadership, philanthropic and team building skills. When public health precautions warrant, SOWMA Club representatives gather at our headquarters to volunteer.
