Center School Warms Our Students with Mittens and Literature

One snowy morning, School on Wheels was surprised with boxes of brand new books and gloves from Center School in Easton. During the month of January, Janice Narsasian, a kindergarten teacher at Center School involved her students in literacy activities focused on the book, The Mitten by Jan Brett.

Center Street Books and Mittens

One activity was for her students to donate new mittens for the kids in School on Wheels' tutoring programs. We were very grateful to open the boxes of hats, mittens and gloves, and more than 70 shiny, new books.  We can’t wait to give the colorful new items to SOWMA's kids! Having a warm pair of mittens and a new book to curl up with is sure to evoke smiles from our kids! Thank you Ms. Narsasian's kindergarteners for your caring donation to our kids!

About The Mitten By Jan Brett:

"When Nicki drops his white mitten in the snow, he goes on without realizing that it is missing. One by one, woodland animals find the mitten and crawl in; first a curious mole, then a rabbit, a badger and others, each one larger than the last. Finally, a big brown bear is followed in by a tiny brown mouse, and what happens next makes a wonderfully funny climax."
