In Their Words

We asked some of our sponsors to tell us, in their own words, why they have chosen to support Outrunning Homelessness and School on Wheels of Massachusetts:

Get In Shape For Women is proud to support School on Wheels of Massachusetts in Outrunning Homelessness because the work that School on Wheels does to support the well-being of children and families and our community is critical. Developing the health and well-being of our clients is what we are all about, and being able to provide community support with goals like School on Wheels is what our clients and staff are excited to participate in!”

“What I love about School on Wheels of MA is how hard their entire staff works every day to improve the life situation of every child they serve. I am proud to serve as tournament director of the School on Wheels 4 on 4 Basketball Tournament, and proud to wear a bib number and race in the Outrunning Homelessness 5K Race. The money we raise and the awareness we generate will benefit the kids attended to by School on Wheels of Massachusetts”.
Marty Weiner, WB Mason

“The reason why we at Maplewood are so happy to support School on Wheels of Massachusetts is because of the profound effect this program has on the lives of children and their families. We realize the importance of providing services that nurture the whole child and School on Wheels provides the support that these children and families so desperately need. We feel that we cannot do enough for this wonderful organization.”
Sue Reardon, Owner Maplewood Country Day Camp and Enrichment Center

“It has been both a very rewarding and humbling experience co-directing the “Outrunning Homelessness” Race/Walk Committee for School on Wheels over the last 3 years. Watching the event grow from 175 to 375 participants in one year, and now seeing our numbers reach close to 500 with 2 weeks left creates so much excitement for both the event directors, volunteers, & community of supporters for School on Wheels. I can’t explain how rewarding it is to know that so many children will receive the educational support they need to be successful through the work that I and so many other people have put forth. The experience has helped me realize how fortunate I am and how much I can do to pay it forward. Thanks to everyone for your amazing support!”

“School on Wheels of MA is one of the top 2 nonprofits that I am involved with as it directly aligns with some of my most important criteria for volunteering my time and monetary contributions — that is to say that first and foremost, you serve our community’s children, the most hopeful and most innocent victims of the homelessness crisis. You maximize the dollars going straight into programs while maintaining the highest levels of quality in the programs. The School on Wheels ‘service’ approach truly works in changing the lives of homeless children through education. You have demonstrated specific results for real children with very specific needs. You are constantly seeking continuous improvement in results, the skills of both your staff and yourself and the quality of donor relationships so that School on Wheels can continue to serve the children who need us most. So I look forward to a bright future in whatever capacity I can be the most helpful to the SOWMA mission.
